Overview:
Barnard General Store, one of Vermont's oldest and most charming general stores, is hiring Part Time and Full Time Deli Clerks. Must be 16 or older. Year round positions as well as seasonal summer positions available. We plan on filling these quickly, so apply now!
We have an open kitchen, so this position involves a lot of customer interaction. Customer service skills are a must! Duties include sandwich making, order taking, ice cream scooping, food prep, simple baking, minimal stocking, cleaning, etc. No experience required. Must be able to handle a fast paced environment. We are a bust place, especially in the summer!
Hourly pay plus tips and an employee discount on meals and groceries.
We make a monthly schedule (rather than weekly) so everyone is aware of their upcoming month and can plan accordingly. We are very good about accommodating requests off, as long as you can give us a heads up!
Our store is historic and unique... there are not many places left like it! We have staff who have been with us for 10 years. Come be part of a great team. Take a jump in Silver Lake after your shift, located right outside our door!
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve a variety of deli items such as sandwiches, salads, and hot foods
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the deli area
- Assist customers in selecting deli products and provide information on ingredients and pricing
- Operate cash registers and handle transactions accurately
- Follow food safety protocols to ensure the quality and safety of products
- Monitor inventory levels and replenish products as needed
Experience:
-None required, but experience with food or customer service is a plus!
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $14.00 - $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 40 per week
